Yin-Yang
Botanical Orders
In the Living Gods, Let the
hallowed Light of Transcendent Truth be praised. Let the Sweet Mystery
of Miryai awaken in the heart of hearts.
Foods are herein grouped under a yin yang system within
the Five Lights according to botanical Orders. (Orders have been grouped
together according to their relationship on the evolutionary Botanical
tree and not by color or taste like the Chinese model.) In the Kephalaia
of the Teacher, an ancient Manichaean text, there is a reference to the
five tastes of the five types of food associated with each of the five
Kings of Darkness, which indicates that these ancient Gnostics were classifying
food into five groups:
"And also, the taste of its
fruits is salty. ...Their taste is the sour taste that is in every form,
...Their taste is the sharp taste that is in every form.,.....Also,
the taste of their fruit is sweetness of water, the sweet taste that is
in every....And also, the taste of their fruits is bitterness. "THE
KEPHALAIA OF THE TEACHER ••• 6
Classifying foods into five groups based on taste
or color is popular in the Chinese model, but is vastly inferior to the
botanical system utilized here. To follow a "rotational diet" based on
these five groups of food, foods from the yin and yang portions of each
Order are eaten in 3 or less consecutive days each five day period, giving
a minimum of 2 consecutive days without them in the diet. Foods from an
Order have been assigned the 3 consecutive days that most fit with the
culinary traditions associated with those days. (See the 3 numbers that
preceed the name of each botanical Order) This arrangement allows most
of the dishes of any one culinary tradition to be prepared but sometimes
an ingredient in one cuisine was sacrificed in order to provide a necessary
key ingredient in another. Pentad sequence of 1st Season. (Of course an
individual or couple have the freedom to eat what they want, when they
want. This system becomes more useful when groups of people need to coordinate
their eating patterns or when an individual finds themselves in need of
a pattern to remind them of deeper truths, encourage them to eat a greater
variety of foods or to address various food allergies.)

COLOPHON: This
grouping of edible plants was made by me, Yesai, on Miryai Mt. in late
2020 as a revision of the outdated Chinese 5 Element system. It was made
in an attempt to develop a balanced dietary program based upon the realities
of modern botanical classifications and on practicalities of growing, processing
and preparing one's own nutrient dense food. It was formulated in partial
response to the quote of Bardaisan about the need to balance the five types
of food as well as in an attempt to modernize and improve the Five Element
system encountered in traditional Chinese medicine.
Peace to all....
