Dark
& Full Moon Fasting
Protocols
5 Mt System of Miryai
In the Living Gods, Let the
hallowed Light of Transcendant Truth be praised. Let the Sweet Mystery
of Miryai awaken in the heart of hearts.
There are three levels to our approach
to fortnight moon fasting: Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced. Advanced
has two parts.
-
Beginner:
-
Fortnightly: A skipping of at
least one meal during the Full or Dark Moon fast of either 1 or 2 days,
and a shortening of the eating window from 12 to 10 hours for the dark
moon for those who normally have a 12 hour window.
-
Intermediate:
-
Fortnightly: A skipping of all
but one meal during the Full or Dark Moon fast of either 1 or 2 days, and
a shortening of the eating window from 12 to 2 hours.
-
Advanced:
-
Fortnightly: A Full or Dark
Moon fast of either 1 or 2 days, depending on the lunar calendar length,
either water, tea or fasting mimicking.
-
Advanced for the Sick-:
For the very obese, sick, or very ill. A longer Cleanse every fortnight
or every other fortnight on the dark moon:
-
Fortnightly: A four or five
day period, similar to the seasonal fast, where the obese or ill skip the
breakfast feeding period, except for the smoothie, and skip the lunch,
but eat the dinner salad meal, or observe the more elaborate Seasonal cleansing
menu. This food intake of one smoothie and one salad is observed for the
last five days of the fortnight. (This level of cleansing frequency, 5
days on and 10 days off, should be employed with great caution in only
the most dire situations.)
FORTNIGHT FASTING
"PURIFICATION PROTOCOL"
A Full or Dark
fast is observed for either one or two days depending on whether the moonth
is alloted a 29 day or a 30 day period. There are about a 25 of these
a year. A full moon fast is always 2 days, observed on the 14 and 15 day
of the lunar month. The fast on the dark moon is thus either a 40 or 64
hour fast, depending on the length of the observed lunar dark period.*
(If a Seasonal fast happens at the same time, then its fasting protocol
takes precedent overly the monthly one.)
There are many health benefits
associated with either a 40 or 64 hour fast. According to researchers at
the Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology Graduate (OIST) University,
fasting for more than 50 hours “revs up metabolism, increases antioxidant
levels, and helps reverse some effects of aging.” Studies have also shown
that prolonged fasting reduces oxidative stress and also boosts autophagy
and reduces DNA damage, both of which can delay aging and improve health.
For the very obese or ill the extension of the monthly fast to a five day
period allows autophagy to assist them in their ills.
*Every lunar month has 29 1/2
days, 28 days when the moon shines and a day and a half when it is dark.
We observe lunar months, or moonths, in 30 day or 29 day time frames, usually
alternating back and forth between the two. We also divide the month into
two parts, the 15 day long waxing (bright fortnight) and the 14 or 15 day
waning (dark fortnight) period. The lunar month has a mean period of 29.53059
days (29 days 12 hours and 44 minutes). In practice this means a
40 hour fast one month, followed by a 64 hour fast the next. Alternating
back and forth. (The 40 hours includes the 4 hours at the end of the previous
day and the 12 hours before lunch the day after the 24 hour fast day.)
-
Fasting/Feasting: 16/8 Intermittent,
Monthly, Seasonal.
-
Daily: 12,14,
or 16 hrs per day depending upon level.
-
Fortnight:
1.5-2 days each fortnight of the moon.
-
Seasonally:
5 Times per year, 4.5-5 day Fasts, 5 Day Feasts.
Peace to all....
