INTRODUCTION
SEASONAL OVERVIEW
Preface
The five divisions—Tammuz/Inanna/Magi, Zarathustra/Zurvanism, Western/Central Manichaean, Eastern Manichaean/White Lotus, and Sufi/Rumi/Hafiz—span Mesopotamian, Persian, and Islamic mystical traditions, each with three historical movements rooted in verifiable histories and practices. Evolving from Sumerian myths to medieval Sufism, they emphasize innerouter unity through rituals like fire ceremonies, meditations like star gazing, and acts like almsgiving, reflecting a shared pursuit of transformation and awareness. Despite distinct paths, they converge on overcoming chaos and redeeming light, though challenges like historical ambiguity, doctrinal rigidity, and cultural adaptation persist.
Outro
These fifteen expressions share strengths in unifying
inner and outer worlds through transformative practices—rituals, meditations,
poetry—rooted in redeeming light from chaos, offering paths to awareness
via cosmic and earthly harmony. Sumerian Inanna’s myths lack precise dating;
Zurvanism’s origins remain debated; Iranian Manichaeanism’s decline limits
records; White Lotus’s secrecy obscures details; Sufi Orders’ diversity
resists cohesion. Yet, their diverse approaches—from Sumer to Sufism—collectively
illuminate the human struggle for order and transcendence.
Limited Diet: Vendidad speaks of a restricted
women's diet of two dânarês (i.e., about 1,400 grains) of grain
and two dânarês of protein, which equals .82c cooked grain
& .82c cooked Beans. (More than this amount prohibits autophagy.)
This restriction works for male and females during the 5 day fast but is
better implemented with greens and oil.
