Gnostic Teachings of Miryai Mt.
In the Living Gods, Let the hallowed Light
of Transcendent Truth be praised. Let the Sweet Mystery of Miryai awaken
in the heart of hearts.
The purpose of this system is to restructure Time,
and to provide an alternate "operating system" to the more common sevenfold
one used in the world. Its goal is to reorientate the mind, reset the subconscious,
and to deprogram the psyche from the manipulations and unconscious programming
of previous systems. It is based on a fivefold system, echoes of which
can be found in various ancient methods of time and structure underpinnings.
Five of these ancient systems are focused upon, and the "fortnight" time
period is singled out as the most useful paradigm.
In ancient times the 5 Great Mountain Civilizations
kept time by sun and moon and fortnight. There is some benefit in returning
to these methods and de-emphasizing the modern mode of reckoning. Much
of this teaching is structured on various phases and divisions of the moon
and its two fortnight divisions of the lunar "moonth". Rather than the
usual four seasons of the year, the Teaching is structured on a five season
yearly pattern. These seasons are further broken down into lunar fortnights
and half fortnights, and even further into 3, 5, 7 and 10 days divisions.
In ancient times many of these same number of days were grouped together.
Evidence of a "three-day week" has been derived
from the names of the days of the week in Guipuscoan Basque, a five day
week was observed in Korea and in the old Asssyrian calendar where it was
named "Hamuštum". Evidence of a five day week in the Indus Valley culture
also exists. In modern times five day periods appear in the Tibetan and
Bon calendars, and are preserved in the 72 microseason calendar of Japan
and China. Dividing the lunar month into two fortnight halves is still
a common practice in India.
In this Teaching the lunar fortnight is divided
up in various ways, for various purposes. Single day, three day for Degrees
of Ascent, 5 days for food and fasting, as well as 7 and 10 day periods.
Of course an individual or couple have the freedom to observe any manner
of calendar or time they choose, but it is helpful to have a workable well
thought out pattern for something as instinctual and oft unconscious as
eating. This time system becomes more useful when groups of people need
to coordinate their schedules, when an individual finds themselves in need
of a system of reckoning that reminds them to focus on deeper truths,
or when help is needed in observing food rotation, variety of diet,
and necessary periods of water fasting. (On future Mars colonies liturgical
time might best be observed by cycles of the two Moons of that planet
rather than this Earth moon system. See Mars
Lunar Calendar)
There are five 73 day Seasons per year, similar to
the the 5 seasons of the old Chinese Calendar. Each Season is assigned
a spiritual Element, and each season is further divided into five Fortnights.
These seasons begin at the start of the Fortnight immediated on or after
the spring equinox which occurs on or near March 20. This fortnight beginning
might be either a full or a new moon, whichever occurs first. (Since a
fortnight can never be longer than 15 days, all seasons begin during the
first new or full moon on or during the two week period from March 20 to
April 3 on the common calendar date. (The following seasons are determined
by the end of the previous season and not by the listed dates below which
are given in only a suggestive sense.) Season (73 days) - made up
of 5 Fortnights or 2-1/2 Moonths or lunar months of 29.5 days. Each fortnight
is further divided into five 3 day periods or two 7 day periods, depending
on the tradition.

FORTNIGHT
Lunar Fortnights are 14 or 15 days each. There are
two per lunar month. Five fortnights make up one of the five 72 day seasons
of the year. Each Season and each Fortnite within a Season is assigned
one of the five lights/elements of Earth, Water, Fire, Wind and Zephyr.
Each fortnight begins on either the new or full moon. Each season begins
on either the new or full moon, whichever comes first after the assigned
dates. Fortnights are divided up in these ways:
-
Tridays (3 day) - there are five of these per fortnight,
25 per 73 day Season. (Tridays allow for the 33 degrees or levels of initiation
to be dealt with in a systematic way. This is the division used in all
Seasons.)
-
Pentads (5 day) - there are 3 of these per Fortnight,
15 per Season. (These are used to rotate food types and cuisine's on the
menu: Japanese, Middle Eastern, Szechwan/Indian, Mexican, and Italian,
and to designate 5 day fasting periods.)
-
Week (7 day) - These 7 day periods are used to divide
up the Season into ten parts and into the traditional luner week. (This
is the division once used in western expressions of the Gnosis, like the
Watery Mandaean and Windy Gnostic.)
-
Fortnight (14/15 day) - these are used to divide
up the lunar month into two parts and each season into five parts.
Sample Daily Schedule
The divisions of the day reflect the divisions
of the year, being based upon the time it takes to observe the appearance
of the sun or moon on the horizon until it rises above it four minutes
later. This basic observable time period can be understood without tools
or timepieces, and forms the basic time unit for daily scheduling, in practice
the day is divided into groups of five of these 4 minute periods. 3 of
these 20" periods make up an hour or one fifth of a daily season. 15 of
these 20 minute blocks make up one of the five "seasonal" divisions of
the day.
