Gnostic Teachings of Miryai Mt.
In the Living Gods, Let the
hallowed Light of Transcendant Truth be praised. Let the Sweet Mystery
of Miryai awaken in the heart of hearts.
It is said of the Manichaeans:
" Amongst vegetables, some, as
melons and fruit containing oil were specially recommended, as they were
thought to contain many light particles, and by being consumed by the perfect
those light particles were set free." Fruit containing oil is best exemplified
by the Avocado, which in our bio-region is best grown in greenhouses. Among
the avocado cultivars most prized on Miryai Mt. are Sharwil, Gwen, Sir
Prize, Lamb-Hass, Reed, Holiday, Mexicola, and Mexicola Grande. These cultivars
are focused upon because of their smaller size which makes them more conducive
to greenhouse production, their seasonal harvest period, and their exceptional
taste. Sharwil is another excellent tasting avocado but it needs more attentive
pruning to stay manageable in a greenhouse environment.
"They (Manichaeans) do not
eat meat either, on the grounds that the divine substance has fled from
the dead or slain bodies, and what little remains there is of such quality
and quantity that it does not merit being purified in the stomachs of the
elect. They do not even eat eggs, claiming that they too die when they
are broken, and it is not fitting to feed on any dead bodies...Moreover,
they do not use milk for food..." - Augustine,
De Haer 46:103-113, Faustum 16
Augustine, speaking of
the Manichaeans, says:
"Where
you get the doctrine that part of God, as you call it, exists in corn,
beans, cabbage, and flowers and fruits? From the beauty of the color,
say they, and the sweetness of the taste; this is evident; and as these
are not found in rotten substances, we learn that their good has been taken
from them."
Modern research has verified that the
more colorful fruits and vegetables contain a higher degree of antioxidants
and are better for human health and longevity than the more bland colored
foods. Red cabbage and onions are more nutritious than green cabbage or
lighter onions, Blue corn contains more protein than yellow, and so on.
These facts inform variety choices on Miryai Mt.
An ancient Manichaean confessional
texts references the use of 5 and 7 categories of food or alms:
"We have been ordered to give reverently
seven kinds of alms for the sake of the pure Law. It has also been ordered
that when the angels of the Light of the Five Gods and the two Call and
Answer Gods bring to us the Light of the Five Gods which is to go to the
Gods to be purified, we should in all things order ourselves according
to the Law." - KHUASTUANIFT
Section 11
Bardaisan also references the
use of 7 categories of food or alms:
"And it is in this connection that
Bardaisan, the teacher of Mani, is found to speak with subtlety, when he
said that of seven Parts the Soul was composed and fixed ... For the numerous
Parts which the Soul gathers and collects, make (possible) many a mixing
of the seven Parts without proper regulation. And because it does not receive
in equal weight from all the foods the Parts of all the Constitutents,
it may happen that the scale of one of the Constituents may preponderate
and overwhelm the rest of its companions ; and this abundance of one is
the cause of the disturbance of all the Constituents. And from the Body
which is without it is possible to learn about the Soul which is within,
that whenever one of its Constitutents preponderates on account of the
quantity of one of the foods, the injury reaches the whole system. " -
Ephraim's Prose Refutations of Mani, Marcion and Bardaisan.
Manichaeans were known for categorizing
everything into groups of five, which is in harmony with modern practices
on Miryai regarding edible plants. The addition of two other alms categories
belonging to the Call and Answer Gods is understood to be non plant items
of water and salt which were offered anciently to the elect but which were
not part of the five Light Alms that ascended. It is noteworthy that only
the Five Lights portion of the Alms is returned on high, inferring that
the other two do not. "the Light of the Five
Gods which is to go to the Gods to be purified". This
suggests that the five types of plant foods with their organic ionic minerals
are utilized in the making of the Light or Rainbow Body, but water and
inorganic salts and minerals do not and remain with the corpse at death.
Peace to all....
